Susan Northfield

Dr Northfield completed her PhD in Medicinal Chemistry at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2012, then spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher in the laboratory of Prof David Craik at the University of Queensland. She returned to Melbourne in 2014 and is currently joint-laboratory head of the Drug Design Laboratory in the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics at The University of Melbourne. Her broad research interests include development of peptides as chemical biology tools and therapeutic agents, and one of her current focuses includes developing peptide mimetics of BDNF to study and potentially treat demyelinating diseases, including multiple sclerosis.
